Find/Replace

You can find a specific word (string) in the document you are currently editing and replace it with another word (string). Options allow you to perform more detailed and diverse searches and replacements.

Replace with

Find specific content in the document you're editing and replaces it with something else. To replace with:

  1. Click Edit-Find-Find/Replace.
  2. In the Find/Replace dialog box, type the text you want to find in the Find What edit box.
  3. In the Replace With edit box, type the text you want to replace with, and then click Replace. Click Replace All to replace all findings at once.

Find

  • Edit Box: Enter what you're looking for.
  • Range: Specify the range of data to find as a sheet or workbook.
  • Direction: Specify the direction in which to perform the find. You can search up or down based on the current cursor position.
  • Target: Specify what to look for as a formula or content.
    For example, if you type "sum" to find the sum formula "SUM" in a document where the word "summer" is entered, a string containing "sum" such as the formulas "SUM" and "summer" is also searched.
  • Match Case: Search for exactly matching English letters that even match case.
    For example, when search for "computer", "Computer" or "COMPUTER" is not searched.
  • Match entire cell contents: Select this to search only the exact match between the string to be found and the entered data.

 

Replace

  • Edit Box: Enter what you want to replace with.
  • Target: Specify what to replace with as a formula or content.

 

Find Button

Find cells within the find range that contain the word in the edit box. Each time you click the button, it finds and moves the cells containing the words in the edit box in order.

 

Find All Button

Find all cells in the search range that contain the word in the edit box and list them at the bottom of the dialog box.

 

Replace Button

Replace words in the Find edit box with the contents of the Replace edit box.

 

Replace All Button

Find all occurrences of a word in the Find edit box and replace them with the contents of the Replace edit box at once.
